Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show to feature handmade bicycles, their builders, and educational programming for professionals and the public

Portland, Ore:  Handmade bicycles and bicycle related crafts, the artisans that build them and professionals representing the craft and culture of bicycling will converge at the 3rd annual Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show October 8–10, 2010 in Portland, Oregon.

The 2010 show promises some of the country’s finest bicycles and related artisanal bicycle products. This year, it will expand to include educational programming for the professional and the public. Oregon’s own United Bicycle Institute will host seminars and continuing education that tie together bicycling’s professional community and the bicycle rider.

“Oregon handmade bicycles and their builders have been attracting the attention of people throughout the United States for many years,” said Dave Levy, President of the Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association, sponsor of the show. “The show has grown substantially as more and more enthusiasts learn the unique benefits and beauty of the Oregon handmade bicycle”

Plans for Oregon’s premier event showcasing the handmade bicycle are still in development, but will include the anticipated two-day show in the Bison Building, seminars on bicycle fit, continuing educational programs for the bicycle professional, entertainment and socializing.

“We know that visitors to the Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show love to see the latest frames, components, gear and clothing,” said Levy. “But, they love to ride a bicycle even more. We think United Bicycle Institute programming along with opportunities to meet builders and see their work will build a bridge between the Oregon bicycle and the rider.”

Full details for this year’s show will be available at OregonHandmadeBicycleShow.com. Exhibitor applications, sponsorship opportunities and ticket information will be available in May. For immediate inquiries, show@oregonframebuilders.org.

The Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association, a non-profit membership benefit organization, promotes the Oregon handmade bicycle through support of Oregon-based bicycle frame builders.
